Global Public Health
Overview
Public health is an increasingly critical factor in global security and the national security of both the United States and China, as well as the international community. As the United States and China become increasingly connected via international trade and travel, the need for collaboration on global health issues has never been higher; however, the topic of public health figures significantly less prominently in the U.S.-China bilateral agenda than needs seem to demand. The Bush China Foundation seeks to unlock the vast, yet unrealized, potential for mutually beneficial collaboration between the United States and China in this area as an opportunity to build positive momentum in a relationship that is otherwise considerably strained. The Foundation’s work in this area explores how the U.S. and Chinese public and private sectors can develop cooperative solutions to tackling global public health threats and how the two countries can work together within a multi-stakeholder framework to address the most critical health issues facing the global community in the twenty-first century.
