In September 2019, the Bush China Foundation hosted a delegation of 20 leading cancer specialists from China, including oncology department heads from several hospitals in Shanghai and Jiangsu Province. The delegation’s visit to Texas was organized by the U.S.-China Center for Medical Exchange and Wei Wu, its founding director and a member of the Bush China Foundation’s Board of Advisors. In addition to meetings with Bush China Foundation President and CEO David Firestein and the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the delegation also visited The University of Texas Executive Training Center and McCombs School of Business. Bush China Foundation Director of Business Programs and Corporate Affairs addressed the group in Mandarin Chinese on tensions in the U.S.-China economic relationship and the perspectives of U.S. heartland residents on the U.S.-China relationship, followed by an interactive discussion on the impacts of these issues on U.S.-China medical exchange.
