Mr. Winston Ma, investor, attorney, author and New York University adjunct professor in the global digital economy, joins Bush China Foundation President and CEO David Firestein to discuss technological competition between the United States and China.
Mr. Ma shares his perspectives on today’s highly competitive technological landscape between China and the United States. The in-depth discussion covers the strengths in each country’s system for implementing a digital economy, blockchain technology, issues of data privacy and debt concerns, and finally, the future of fintech in the United States and China.
Mr. Ma is an expert on the global digital economy. Most recently, he was Managing Director for China Investment Corporation (CIC), China’s sovereign wealth fund. Prior to CIC, Mr. Ma served as the deputy head of equity capital markets at Barclays Capital, a vice president at J.P. Morgan investment banking, and a corporate lawyer at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP. He has authored many books, including his two most recent: The Hunt for Unicorns: How Sovereign Funds Are Reshaping Investment in the Digital Economy and The Digital War – How China’s Tech Power Shapes the Future of AI, Blockchain and Cyberspace.
