Gordon Shen is an assistant professor of health care management in the Department of Management, Policy, and Community Health and a faculty member of the George McMillan Fleming Center of Health Care Management at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. Dr. Shen’s research agenda is focused on the customization of managerial innovations in health care organizations. His expertise is cross-cultural management. His scholarship was published in Health Systems and Reform, International Journal of Health Policy and Management, and Bulletin of the World Health Organization. Dr. Shen’s interests lie at the intersection of global health, mental health and organizational theory. These interests are reflected in his research, as well as in his teaching and community service commitments. Dr. Shen has consulted for the World Health Organization, the World Bank, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He holds a Ph.D. in health services and policy analysis from the University of California, Berkeley, an S.M. in epidemiology from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and a B.S. in psychobiology and public health from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Shen has lived and worked in Ethiopia (2014), China (2012 to 2013) and Palestine (2009 to 2010).
