The China Legacy of President George H. W. Bush

In this episode, host David Firestein speaks with the Founder and Chairman of the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, Neil Bush. Neil is the third child of President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush. He first visited China in 1975 when his father was the chief liaison officer representing the United States in Beijing. His business and personal interests have allowed for many return trips over the years. Since 1975, Neil has traveled to China over 140 times and has visited over 40 cities. 

This final episode of the 2021 podcast season is a special feature with Neil, who speaks about his father, our namesake, George H. W. Bush, and also his own personal experiences around diplomacy, the Bush legacy, and China.

Outside of his work on China issues, Neil chairs the Points of Light and serves on the boards of the Houston Salvation Army and the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. In addition, Mr. Bush and his wife, Maria, chair the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation.
