August 7-9, 2023
Washington, DC
The Bush China Foundation is hosting the U.S.-China XGen Dialogue from August 7-9 2023 in Washington, DC. The in-person track 2 dialogue will be comprised of approximately equal numbers of Chinese and Americans and equal numbers of individuals from older and younger generations. Activities will include breakout group meetings by country and/or generation to pinpoint generational viewpoints; plenary sessions to exchange views and share insights; meetings with national- and local-level government officials; and informal activities such as sightseeing and meals that will facilitate relationship-building.

The George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations’ (Bush China Foundation’s) U.S.-China XGen (Cross-Gen) Initiative brings together varying generations of Americans and Chinese to exchange views on an equal footing, contributing to a more nuanced understanding of societal perspectives on critical issues. This initiative builds a unique platform that constructively addresses some of the key sources of conflict between generations by fostering exchanges of viewpoints between ages on the varying factors behind perception differences. The challenges of the 21st century are consequential, and increased dialogue among the most critical players—the current and future thought leaders of the United States and China—will only better equip the United States, as well as China and the world, to address these challenges.
