October 28, 2021 (Virtual)
Hosted by the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding at Peking University and the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, this event will bring together former diplomats and academics from the United States and China for a closed-door discussion on desired outcomes for U.S. and Chinese interests in Afghanistan.
The discussion will focus on U.S. and Chinese interests in Afghanistan, the implications of the Taliban’s return to power, what the new dynamics mean for U.S.-China relations and recommendations for U.S. and Chinese policymakers.
The dialogue session is the second round of the track 2 U.S.-China Strategic Policy Dialogue series launched in May of this year, which seeks to facilitate action-focused exchanges between the two countries.
