George H. W. Bush Conference on U.S.-China Relations

The 2015 Bush China Conference focused on the critical role of the United States and China in preventing, preparing for and responding to emerging infectious diseases and pandemics. Topics revolved around the capability of public health infrastructure to respond to infectious disease threats and the development of an integrated, resilient and global strategy that includes environmental monitoring, disease detection, prevention and medical response. XU Kuangdi, president of the China-U.S. Peoples Friendship Association and former mayor of Shanghai, delivered the keynote address. Over 500 scholars, business leaders and others attended the two days of plenary sessions and one day of roundtable discussions focused on the following topics:
