Fei Guo is a PhD student in the Department of History at The University of Texas at Austin. While he is broadly interested in East Asia, state-building and economic development, his work focuses on state-building in 1950’s China and its impact on China’s economic development in the post-1978 period. Mr. Guo is interested in digital and quantitative methods for historical studies. He believes that it is crucial for historians to learn from the social sciences and make historical research relevant to the contemporary world. Mr. Guo would like to bring historians’ input into the process of policymaking.
