Jing Wang

Assistant Professor of Interactive Media and Business | New York University Shanghai

Jing Wang is an assistant professor of interactive media and business (IMB) at New York University Shanghai. She received her Ph.D. from the School of Information and Communication at Rutgers University.

Dr. Wang’s research pivots on the question of how communication technologies, such as the internet, social media and live streaming reshape business practices, corporate-government relations and people’s everyday life. Her recent work studies digital innovation in China’s finance sector, particularly focusing on the platforms, interfaces and policy environments of Chinese fintech businesses.

She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, such as The China Quarterly, International Journal of Communication, Telecommunications Policy and Big Data & Society. She has also shared her research findings on The China Business News, China Global TV Network, Channel News Asia, The American Chamber of Commerce Podcast and Wharton Fintech Club Podcast.

At NYU Shanghai, Dr. Wang teaches fintech to students from all over the world. She also founded the research lab Pixels of Finance which examines the social and cultural nuances of everyday financial practices.
