George H. W. Bush Conference on U.S.-China Relations

The 2005 Bush China Conference convened in Beijing at various venues across the city, including Peking University, the China University of Geosciences and the National Academy of Education Administration. The first two days of the conference featured plenary sessions focused on reviewing and discussing ways to advance diplomatic, security, economic and scientific relations between the two countries. The latter two days comprised roundtable discussions that aimed to build partnerships in science and technology and to promote research and educational exchange.

Program

President George H. W. Bush and former Vice Premier of the Chinese State Council QIAN Qichen delivered keynote addresses. On the second evening of the conference, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom John MAJOR joined President Bush for an informal discussion on the importance of relations with China. Over 400 academics, business leaders and others came together for the roundtable discussions focused on the following:
