Competition and collaboration: Examining the energy policy of the United States and China

Dr. Fred Beach, researcher and lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, joins Bush China Foundation’s Robbin Goodman to examine today’s global energy landscape in the context of United States-China relations.

Dr. Beach shares his perspectives on current global energy demands, including the push for clean energy. The discussion delves into both the U.S. and China’s energy policies and the potential for cooperation around climate change and an energy free trade agreement between the two countries.

Dr. Beach teaches Energy Technology Policy and International Energy Policy at the Cockrell School of Engineering, the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and the McCombs School of Business. A 25-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he has served as a consultant on defense-related topics for the U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group, and the Defense Science Board, among other agencies and committees.
